Four things to consider when looking for a family-friendly home

There are a number of important factors to consider when moving to a family-friendly home in Qatar, especially that you want to feel safe and happy at home.
Here are a few things you should consider:

1. Safety:
 

The most important aspect of any home with children is safety, both inside and outside. When looking inside the home, think of the furniture, if the unit is furnished, the sockets, and the layout. Think, do you need an open kitchen plan, or is a closed one more appropriate for you? Are stairs a safety hazard? Are there any sharp corners or edges? For the outside, think of fencing in the yard, or if the property has a pool, can you safely isolate it? Is the balcony safe for kids? Can you child-proof all these areas? This is the most important aspect to consider before moving in.

2. Size:

Children are active, noisy and require a lot of space. Of course, it all depends on your budget, but if possible, a bigger home is something you should consider. Trust us – it’s for your sanity!

3. Location:
A family home, ideally, needs to be in a central location. Not just near schools, nurseries, playgrounds/parks and malls, but also near a health center or an emergency facility/hospital, in case the needs arises.

4. Storage:

You might be surprised at how important this point is! Any family home should have ample storage space, especially for old toys, items and clothes. Even if you don’t have built in storage, try and look for a home that allows you the space to install cabinets, drawers, etc.…
