How to Add Color to Your Home

We always talk about how important it is to add color to a home, and how big a role hues play on your décor. But do you know how to implement color into your home style? Here are a few things to consider.

1. Make a Statement:
A bold splash of color is always a great idea, especially in a neutrally colored room. For example, if you’re entire living room is one shade, then add color sporadically around the area. If could be pillows, on the wall, or even a rug.

2. Furniture Plays a Big Role:

Adding to the first point, your furniture can be as colorful as you want it to be! If you opt for a very colorful sofa, then add neutral and soft rugs and pillows, and vice versa. However, you can always go for a very colorful chair or one-seaters, to break the mundanity of the color scheme.

3. Accessories:
Add ons such as lamps, wall art or decorations are also a great way to add color to your home. Think funky colorful lamps, either table or standing, or an entire wall filled with pieces. If you’re extra bold, why not try coloring your wall, or having a design implemented on it?

4. The Walls:

Walls at home are usually white or beige; seldom do we see a colored wall. However, if you’re looking to subtly add color, then you can choose to add wallpaper or actually paint one area completely differently than the rest of the house. This will give you that ‘pop’ you’re looking for, without going overboard.

5. The Kitchen:

Some of us completely underestimate the power our kitchen holds over our home design. But in reality, there are plenty of ways to add color to your kitchen, be it with painted cabinets, walls, or even accessorizing your countertops.

6. Mirrors and Clocks:
The frames around our mirrors at home hold great power! Choose a color or design that will stand out, especially when it’s against a white/neutral wall. The exact same thing applies to wall clocks, which are another great way to incorporate color into your home.

7. Use a Color Wheel:

Using a color wheel will help your figure out how each color looks on a surface. This way, you can mix and match easily, and figure out what work with your overall style.
