Celebrations for\u00a0Eid\u00a0Al Adha will begin September 1st of this year, with most public and private sector companies enjoying a few days off. A time of joy and celebration, here is what you need to know about the occasion:<\/p>\n

What is\u00a0Eid\u00a0Al Adha?<\/strong>
\nThe festival of sacrifice is the second major occasion in Islam, with the first being\u00a0Eid\u00a0Al Fitir. Celebrated by Muslims all over the world, it is also dependent on the sighting of the moon in the lunar month of Zul Hijjah.<\/p>\n

How is it Celebrated?<\/strong>
\nEid\u00a0starts with a special prayer that proceeds morning prayer at mosques.\u00a0Eid\u00a0Al Adha is also the time of Haj pilgrimage, which is a very important pillar in Islam. The Muslim community worldwide partake in sacrificing animals and enjoying a feast, as well as giving to the needy and poor. It is also a time of celebration for children and families, who all get together and spend the\u00a0Eid\u00a0days visiting relatives and friends. People are usually dressed in their traditional clothes, and children specifically enjoy this time, as most people give them money and gifts!<\/p>\n

Eid\u00a0Celebrations:<\/strong>
\nMost hotels and restaurants offer a special\u00a0Eid\u00a0lunch or brunch, as well as special promotions and prices on staycations and rooms rates. The meals are usually buffet style, and will include different types of cuisines and kid\u2019s entertainment, which is perfect for a\u00a0Eid\u00a0celebration.<\/p>\n

The ever so popular Qatar Summer Festival is still going on, with concerts, lives show, shopping promotions still taking place at various venues throughout the city, including a stand-up comedy show and an amazing fireworks display which can be seen from different locations in Doha.<\/p>\n
