With so many people working from home at the moment in Qatar<\/a> and around the world, we thought we\u2019d share our top tips for staying professional during a video call.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

1. Join the call on time. Just because it\u2019s not in person doesn\u2019t mean you can be late.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Turn your camera on. It doesn\u2019t matter if you\u2019re in the living room or your car, or even if you child walks around. It\u2019s normal for these things to happen when working from home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

3. Think of you surroundings. You should be in a tidy area, but its more than fine to show personality<\/strong> such as your kids artwork, or an arts and crafts section.<\/p>\n

4. Let the people at home know you\u2019re on a call \u2013 this will help keep the noise to a minimum<\/strong> and will minimize any embarrassing moments.<\/p>\n

5. Try and stay unmuted, but if you\u2019re in a noisy situation beyond your control, hit that mute button!<\/strong><\/p>\n

6. Focus on the call \u2013 it shows when you\u2019re checking your phone or your emails.<\/strong><\/p>\n

7. Are you recording the call? Make sure that the people on the call are aware of this<\/strong> and the reasons for that.<\/p>\n

8. Be yourself. We all know that you are not in the office \u2013 so it\u2019s more than okay to show your true self.<\/strong> You don\u2019t have to have a white background or be seated at a desk, as long as it\u2019s respectful and courteous of the situation.<\/p>\n

9. Figure out where the best connection at home is and use that area \u2013 it\u2019ll make any call go smoother.<\/strong><\/p>\n

10. Small talk is also okay. If you\u2019re a few minutes early or hang back after the call, it\u2019s perfectly normal to catch up with colleagues<\/strong> and have a chat.<\/p>\n
