Qatar is one of the safest centuries globally for expatriates, who make up 75 percent of Qatar’s total population of about 1.7 million. Called the “Middle East for Beginners,” you can experience the richness and flavour of the Arab culture without sacrificing Western conveniences. Here are a few reasons why people chose to relocate to Qatar:

1. Tax free:
Qatar is one of the few tax-free countries globally, which means there is no tax on personal per capita income. Today, employees take home their wages and salaries without any tax deducted. Qatar’s tax system makes it attractive to expatriates (individuals and companies) and has made Doha a stunning location for employees from all over the world.

2. Safety:
It doesn’t matter if you’re a local or an expat; Qatar is renowned for its low crime rate. According to the 2019 Global Peace Index, Qatar has secured the number one spot for safety in the Middle East and North Africa for 11 years in a row. Qatar might be the best place for you and your family to feel comfortable and is a safe place to live. It is also worth noting that there is a massive presence of security and police in the country, striving hard to ensure all people who live in Qatar always feel safe and secure.

3. Global airline hub:
Since 1997, Qatar Airways has become one of the fastest growing carriers in aviation history with the highest standards of service and excellence. Qatar Airways serves one domestic destination and 157 international destinations in 79 countries as of June 2021. Qatar Airways has indeed matured as a leading force in regional and global aviation under the leadership of its Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker. Hamad International Airport is managed by Qatar Airways, designed to help Doha become a crucial regional and global aviation hub. HIA now handles over 30 million travellers a year and joined as a top tier of international airports, and by 2022 it expects to welcome 50 million visitors.

4. Education:
If you have a family, a significant portion of your income will be spent on your children’s education. Of course, educational costs will vary and are relative to your child’s educational attainment. Private schooling in Qatar generally provides excellent teaching and outstanding educational opportunities for students. It’s helpful to note that some employers will provide school allowance for expats as part of their expatriate package to offset school fees. There are also schools for different nationalities, and these can very often prove to be less expensive.

5. Health:
The healthcare system in Qatar is incredibly well developed, and the country’s medical infrastructure and facilities are all modern and easily accessible for residents and expatriates. Qatar invests more per capita in healthcare than any other GCC country, alongside many private medical clinics and hospitals available, and has top notch medical professionals. However, if you use a private clinic or hospital, it is worth mentioning that it can be pretty expensive unless you have medical insurance. As an expatriate, it is worth asking your company if it provides comprehensive medical insurance.

6. Transportation:
If you intend to drive in Qatar, a valid driving license is required from the Ministry of Interior’s Traffic Department. The advantage of moving to Qatar is that the price of petrol is very reasonable. Buying a new or used vehicle is reasonably priced and you may be able to get some good deals as well. Other transportation options are also available if you take the Doha Metro, buses, and taxis, which are relatively cheaper.

7. Property variety:
Qatar has become so much more than just a place to live; we have seen the market surge with a supply of high-end luxury properties in The Pearl, Msheireb Downtown Doha and Lusail, prompting buyers and renters to enter the market throughout the pandemic with more affordable property prices, compared to two years ago. Without a doubt, Qatar presents a significant portfolio of attractive residential serviced apartments, which matches the lifestyle that Qatar offers to its residents and expatriates, from high quality of living to the ever-growing career opportunities enabling expats and nationals to enjoy the lavish lifestyle they seek.
